McAfee & Taft Shareholder Richard Riggs Elected 2009 Oklahoma Bar Foundation President

Richard A. Riggs, a shareholder with McAfee & Taft, has been elected to serve as the 2009 President of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation.

Founded in 1946, the Oklahoma Bar Foundation is a statewide charitable foundation affiliated with the Oklahoma Bar Association.  The Foundation provides grants to charitable organizations which serve its mission of “advancing education, citizenship and justice for all.”  Last year, the Oklahoma Bar Foundation gave away more than $800,000 in grants to various state organizations, including those providing legal services, law related education and services to victims of domestic violence.  .

Riggs is an active member of the legal community and has been practicing law in the state of Oklahoma since 1974.  He currently concentrates his practice in real estate and other commercial transactions, regularly representing clients in negotiating and closing real estate purchases and sales, real estate leasing and financing transactions and secured transactions in personal property. He also represents clients involved in the emerging field of alternative energy and serves as the co-chair of the firm’s Renewable and Sustainable Energy Industry Group.
