McAfee & Taft to Host ABA Roundtable on Fair Use of Satire

May 12, 2006

McAfee & Taft will be hosting an American Bar Association Litigation Section (Intellectual Property Committee) roundtable on Wednesday, May 31st, from 11:45am to 1:00pm.  This month’s topic focuses on the satire/parody distinction in copyright and trademark law and whether satire can ever be a fair use.

Cliff Dougherty, a shareholder with the firm’s intellectual property practice group, will moderate the discussion, and lunch will be provided by McAfee & Taft.

Roundtables provide participating attorneys with informal opportunities to meet in small groups to discuss current issues.  The event is open to all attorneys, and there is no cost to attend.  Interested participants should RSVP by calling (405) 552-2302 or registering online at www.mcafeetaft.com.

With more than 115 attorneys, McAfee & Taft is Oklahoma’s largest law firm, serving clients throughout the Southwest and the nation in the areas of aviation, commercial transactions, corporate and securities, employee benefits, environmental law, healthcare, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation, oil and gas, real estate and tax and family wealth.
