McAfee & Taft’s Vickie Buchanan honored as ‘2012 Attorney of the Year’
The Central Oklahoma Association of Legal Assistants (COALA) honored McAfee & Taft attorney Vickie Buchanan during its annual awards banquet on June 8, 2012, naming her as the 2012 Attorney of the Year. The award is presented annually to a practicing attorney who has shown great support to the paralegal profession.
Buchanan is a corporate lawyer and shareholder with McAfee & Taft whose legal practice encompasses a broad range of business matters, including commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, real estate projects, entity formation and organization, contracts, business restructuring, and day-to-day counseling. She also has extensive experience as a trial lawyer handling a broad range of commercial litigation and arbitration, representing major U.S. energy companies, corporations, manufacturers, pharmaceutical companies, financial institutions and investment firms. Her experience includes representing public and private companies in complex business cases, eminent domain cases, class action and multiple-party lawsuits, and disputes involving oil and gas, environmental, real estate, banking and securities, insurance, products liability and mass torts.
Buchanan’s achievements have earned her inclusion in Oklahoma Super Lawyers‘ list of “Oklahoma Rising Stars,” which recognizes the state’s top up-and-coming attorneys.
COALA was established in 1984 to provide a forum and network of support and assistance for legal assistants/paralegals in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The organization serves the legal community by providing sources of continuing legal education, establishing standards and guidelines for proper and effective utilization of legal assistants / paralegals by members of the Bar, providing a higher quality of legal services at lower cost to the client, and maintaining the high standards of professional responsibility and conduct imposed upon all members of the Bar.
