Michael Smith elected OBA Appellate Practice Section chairperson-elect

The Appellate Practice Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association has elected Michael F. Smith as chairperson-elect for the 2013 calendar year. He will automatically become chairperson of the Appellate Practice Section for the 2014 calendar year.

Smith is a trial and appellate lawyer in McAfee & Taft’s Tulsa office specializing in complex civil litigation. His practice focuses primarily on defending manufacturers and other suppliers and distributors of products, including automobiles, cranes, forklifts, pharmaceuticals, and implanted medical devices. He has also defended accounting firms and law firms in professional malpractice actions.

The Appellate Practice Section is one of the OBA’s 23 substantive law sections that offers professional development and interaction among Oklahoma lawyers. The Appellate Practice Section offers opportunities for Oklahoma lawyers specializing in appellate practice to experience professional growth through monthly meetings with presentations by appellate court judges, Oklahoma Supreme Court justices, and other experts in appellate practice.
