Nix, Hyde to Speak at Regional Employee Benefits Conference

J. Dudley Hyde and Richard Nix, employee benefits attorneys with the law firm of McAfee & Taft, are slated to speak at the SouthWest Benefits Association’s 15th Annual Employee Benefits Conference for Practitioners and Plan Sponsors. The two-day event, which will be held at the DoubleTree Hotel in Dallas on November 15 and 16, is being co-sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service.

Founded in 1975, the SouthWest Benefits Association is a regional association of experienced professionals in the field of employee pension and welfare benefits.  Members represent a wide range of specialties, including corporate human resources, benefit plan administration, financial management, investment counseling, trust administration, law, accounting, actuarial, health insurance, and pension and welfare consulting.

J. Dudley Hyde, a shareholder and director of McAfee & Taft, will be one of three expert panelists speaking on the topic of IRS examinations and audits of employee plans.  A frequent lecturer and guest presenter on the topic of employee benefits, Hyde is a past president of the SouthWest Benefits Association and a Charter Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.  He has also been named to the prestigious The Best Lawyers in America list for the past 21 years.

Richard Nix, a shareholder with McAfee & Taft and the firm’s Employee Benefits practice group leader, will moderate a session on the topic of accounting for executive compensation.  Nix currently serves on the board of directors of the SouthWest Benefits Association and as co-chair of the organization’s education committee.
