Healthcare organizations are under increasing pressure to keep up with a myriad of regulatory compliance and operational issues. In her presentation titled “OIG’s Prescription for Effective Governance,” healthcare attorney Elizabeth Dalton emphasizes the importance of corporate compliance programs, particularly in light of recent heightened scrutiny by governmental entities and the issuance of two key sources of guidance in 2015 – the “Corporate Responsibility and Corporate Compliance: A Resource for Health Care Boards of Directors” guide prepared jointly by the Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the American Health Lawyers Association, and the “Individual Accountability for Corporate Wrongdoing” memo issued by then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.

The presentation also includes a review of the fiduciary duties of board members as well as recommendations for how boards should approach their corporate compliance efforts.
