Papahronis, Nix to Speak at Employee Benefits Workshop
John Papahronis and Richard Nix, shareholders and employee benefits attorneys with the law firm of McAfee & Taft, will speak at the 2005 Plan Administrator Skills Workshop sponsored by the SouthWest Benefits Association and the Internal Revenue Service.
The event, which will be held February 18 at the Oklahoma City Sheraton, is widely considered the area’s premier one-day workshop for employee benefits professionals and features some of the region’s best experts as speakers, including agents from both the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor. Agenda topics will concentrate on the practical issues employers face as sponsors of employee retirement plans and health/welfare plans.
John Papahronis will be joined by representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor to discuss fiduciary issues, including investment education/communication and the DOL’s most frequently identified audit problems and corrections.
Richard Nix, the firm’s Employee Benefits practice group leader, is co-chair of the event’s planning committee and will moderate the day’s sessions.
The workshop is specifically designed for employee benefits managers, human resource departments, benefit administrators, 401(k) plan committee members, trust officers, accountants, and attorneys.
The SouthWest Benefits Association is a regional association of experienced professionals in the field of employee pension and welfare benefits. Members represent a wide range of specialties, including corporate human resources, benefit plan administration, financial management, investment counseling, trust administration, law, accounting, actuarial, health insurance, and pension welfare counseling.
