McAfee & Taft, the state’s largest law firm, has further expanded its Intellectual Property Group with the addition of Robert E. Stevens.  In addition to being a registered patent attorney, Stevens is a former electrical engineer who brings to the firm more than 14 years of diversified manufacturing experience and a wealth of hands-on technical knowledge of product design, quality engineering, and production processes while working as an engineer and design team manager for a number of Oklahoma-based manufacturing companies.  His practice at McAfee & Taft is focused on intellectual property counseling and transactional matters involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, licensing agreements, and trade secrets.

Stevens earned his associate’s degree in electronics from Eastern Oklahoma State College in 1998, his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University in 2005, and his MBA from Northeastern State University in 2010. He graduated magna cum laude from the Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2019, where he was the recipient of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation Chapman-Rogers Scholarship and a CALI Award in Civil Procedure.

Stevens’ prior career experience also includes serving as an infantry squad leader in the U.S. Army from 1998 – 2002 and as an adjunct professor of electronics at ITT Technical Institute.
