In the presentation titled “Practitioners Behaving Badly” at the McAfee & Taft Spring Cleaning 2016 Healthcare Luncheon, healthcare attorney Patricia Rogers starts by sharing real world examples of outrageous and unprofessional conduct by healthcare providers in the workplace and the actions the employer-hospitals took to address the behavior, including denial of medical staff membership, termination and suspension. She also reviews whether the courts ultimately upheld or denied those hospital actions. Also in the presentation, healthcare attorney Elizabeth Dalton discusses physician agreements designed to avoid a fair hearing and the types of practitioner conduct that must be reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB), various licensure boards, and the nursing board.
