November 2, 2020

McAfee & Taft shareholder Rachel Blue was one of five women honored with the 2020 Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Award by the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Women in Law Committee.

Since 1996, the Spotlight Awards have been given annually to five women who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession and who have lit the way for other women. In 1998, the award was named to honor the late Mona Salyer Lambird, the first woman president of the Oklahoma Bar Association and one of the award’s first recipients. Previous winners include McAfee & Taft attorneys Susan B. Shields (2011), Mary Quinn Cooper (2017), Kathy Neal (2017), and Brita Haugland Cantrell (2019).

The former trademark examining attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office concentrates her practice on intellectual property law and litigation and devotes a portion of her practice to counseling and representing clients in franchising, licensing and unfair competition matters. Rachel has also previously served as leader of McAfee & Taft’s Intellectual Property Group and chaired the firm’s Women’s Initiative committee, which is focused on the recruitment, retention, promotion and professional development of the firm’s women attorney.

Her legal achievements have earned her perennial inclusion in the Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America, and Oklahoma Super Lawyers.

Last year, Rachel was honored with the Fern Holland Award by the University of Tulsa College of Law Women’s Law Caucus for her numerous efforts dedicated to empowering women, including mentoring female law students and developing the firm’s signature “Off the Record” event that brings together law students and women lawyers from the bench, private practice, nonprofits, and industry for a fun evening of networking and straight-talk conversation.

With more than 175 attorneys and offices in Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Springfield, McAfee & Taft is one of the nation’s 250 largest law firms as ranked by National Law Journal.
