The Fair Labor Standards Act is the federal statute that establishes a minimum wage, overtime pay for non-exempt workers, recordkeeping requirements, and youth employment standards for covered employees in the private sector as well as in federal, state and local governments.  Since its enactment in 1938, the law has evolved as America’s workplace has changed.  In her presentation titled “Recent Developments with the Fair Labor Standards Act” at the 2018 Labor and Employment Law Update sponsored by the Oklahoma Bar Association, McAfee & Taft labor and employment attorney Courtney Bru reviews recent case law decisions, discusses trends in class/collective actions, and highlights new developments in wage and hour law by the U.S. Department of Labor.
