Seminar explores business owners’ cannabis concerns

published in The Norman Transcript | May 8, 2018

McAfee & Taft labor and employment attorney Nathan Whatley was featured in a story in The Norman Transcript following his presentation at the “Let’s Talk About Marijuana in the Workplace” seminar sponsored by the Norman Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Norman partner agency The Virtue Center on May 8, 2018.

In the article titled “Seminar explores business owners’ cannabis concerns,” Whatley was quoted as urging employers to start updating their drug and alcohol policies, educating their entire workforces on what the law permits and what it does not, and training their supervisors to recognize impairment in the workplace.

“The tests we have don’t show if someone is impaired or not,” said Whatley.  “Right now, there’s not a test, but if someone is impaired at work, employers can still take action.”
