Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: Updates on the #MeToo Movement”

Oklahoma Office of Civil Rights Enforcement’s 2019 Employment Law Conference

While the #MeToo movement was initially ignited by a wave of sexual harassment and assault claims brought against celebrities and other high-profile individuals in the fall of 2017, it quickly spread into everyday workplaces.  Where once sexual harassment claims were tried mainly in the courts, they are now being tried in the court of public opinion as well.  As a result, the stakes have never been higher for employers.

In her presentation titled “Sexual Harassment in the Workplace: Updates on the #MeToo Movement” at the OAG Office of Civil Rights Enforcement’s 2019 Employment Law Conference, McAfee & Taft labor and employment attorney Paige Good reviews the volume and types of sexual harassment and hostile work environment claims being brought in recent years, provides an overview of public, legislative and business management responses to the #MeToo movement, and provides employers with practical advice and best practices for maintaining a harassment-free workplace.
