Susan Shields wins prestigious The Journal Record Award
Susan Shields, a shareholder and member of the firm’s Tax & Family Wealth Group, was honored with the prestigious The Journal Record Award at the Oklahoma County Bar Association’s Law Day Luncheon held at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City on Friday, April 29, 2016. Susan holds the distinction of being the first woman in the OCBA’s history to receive the award, which honors outstanding service to the legal profession. Past winners include McAfee & Taft co-founder Richard G. Taft.
In recent years, Susan’s professional contributions to the legal community have included serving in leadership positions with the Oklahoma County Bar Association (Board of Directors, 2014-2016), Oklahoma Bar Association (Vice President, 2014; Board of Governors, 2010-2012), and Oklahoma Bar Foundation (Board of Trustees, 2007-2015; President, 2013). She is a Fellow with the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, a member of the Oklahoma City Estate Planning Council, and an adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
Her contributions on the civic level include serving on the Planned Giving Council of the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, as president of the Central Oklahoma Stanford Alumni Club, and on the board of directors for Oklahoma Cleats for Kids, a non-profit organization that collects and distributes sports apparel and equipment to kids in need.
