Signed into law for fiscal year 2018, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 is the most significant piece of tax reform legislation in more than 30 years. And while certain key elements of the Act – notably, the lowering of the corporate tax rate – have received the most attention, the legislation also addresses tax incentives used to stimulate investments in projects in low-income areas.

In her presentation titled “Tax Incentives After Tax Reform” at the February 2018 meeting of CREW OKC, McAfee & Taft attorney Cheryl Denney reviews the status of the New Markets Tax Credit and Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit programs, provides an overview of the newly created Opportunity Zone Fund program included in the tax reform act, and discusses the opportunities and benefits offered by these incentives.

Founded in June of 2016, CREW OKC is the central Oklahoma chapter of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women), an organization dedicated to advancing the achievements of women in the commercial real estate industry. CREW OKC’s membership welcomes women and men in all facets of commercial and real estate and includes attorneys, architects, lenders, engineers and developers.
