At The Podium
Co-Chair, 12th Annual Energy Litigation Conference
Presented by the Institute for Energy Law with the co-sponsorship of the ABA Section of Environment, Energy and Resources (SEER) and the Energy Litigation Committee of the ABA Section of Litigation, the 12th Annual Energy Litigation Conference focuses on the latest developments and trends in litigation affecting the energy industry. Topics include a review of recent oil and gas court decisions, hot issues in arbitration, investigating major incidents, developments in class action litigation, and an update on legal activity in the Marcellus and Utica shale regions.
Mark D. Christiansen, co-leader of the Energy and Oil & Gas Group at McAfee & Taft, serves as moderator of the highly anticipated presentation “View From the Bench,” in which a panel of judges from around the country discuss different approaches to energy litigation, especially between the “mature” oil and gas states and the “new” oil and gas states. Featured panelists are Justice James R. Winchester of the Supreme Court of Oklahoma; The Hon. Scott A. Brister, former justice of the Supreme Court of Texas and now head of the appellate section at Andrews Kurth LLP; The Hon. Brian A. Jackson, chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana; and The Hon. Mark R. Hornak, district judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
Christiansen is also serving as co-chair of the annual event with Jack Lewis, managing counsel for litigation for Chevron Upstream Law in Houston, TX.
