Veteran Employment Attorney Charles Plumb Joins Firm

Charles S. Plumb, one of Oklahoma’s leading labor and employment attorneys and a noted author and speaker on workplace issues, has joined the law firm of McAfee & Taft as a shareholder.  He most recently was a partner with Tulsa-based Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson for 26 years.

Plumb’s career achievements in representing management in all aspects of employment law have earned him inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, Oklahoma Super Lawyers, and the recently released 2008 edition of the Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, where he was lauded as “an impressive public speaker who utilizes his vast experience to effectively defend clients.”  Researchers at Chambers & Partners also quoted market observers as admiring him for his “practicality of advice and specialized knowledge of complex legal issues.”

Plumb’s practice focuses on counseling employers on compliance with a broad range of state and federal employment laws and regulations and educating management on best practices for avoiding disputes arising from the employer/employee relationship.  He also has extensive litigation experience before federal and state courts, regulatory and administrative agencies, and in arbitration matters involving claims of discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliatory discharge, breach of contract and constitutional law violations.  His labor practice includes representing management in labor union negotiations and training, collective bargaining, and grievance arbitration.

The veteran Tulsa lawyer is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and The Ohio State University School of Law. He is a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association, Labor Council of the Oklahoma Bar Association, and the Employment Law Section of the American Bar Association.

Active in the community, Plumb serves on the board of directors of Circle Cinema Foundation and Planned Parenthood of Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma, Inc and most recently completed a four-year term as director of the Booker T. Washington Foundation.

Plumb is the tenth lawyer to join the Tulsa office of McAfee & Taft since May and one of eight new attorneys in the firm’s employment and benefits practice.  Of the firm’s 141 attorneys, more than 40 practice in the areas of employment and employee benefits law.

McAfee & Taft is Oklahoma’s largest law firm, serving clients throughout the Southwest and nationally in the areas of aviation, business law, corporate and securities, employee benefits, environmental law, healthcare, intellectual property, labor and employment, litigation, oil and gas, real estate and tax and family wealth.  The firm employs over 250 Oklahomans and has offices in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
