Welcome to the neighborhood,
News 9 and Griffin Media

November 14, 2022

McAfee & Taft is pleased to welcome News 9 and Griffin Media, the state’s largest multimedia company, as our newest neighbor in downtown Oklahoma City.

Last year, the firm had the pleasure of serving as real estate counsel to Griffin Media in its acquisition of the Century Center building, located at the northeast corner of Sheridan and Robinson, as the new site of its corporate headquarters and News 9 newsroom and studio. With the move, News 9 is the only local television station to broadcast from downtown Oklahoma City.

McAfee & Taft real estate attorneys Rob Garbrecht (lead), Isai Molina and Haley Maynard and tax and economic development attorney Bonner Gonzalez represented Griffin Media in all aspects of the complex transaction, including the negotiation of the purchase and sale agreement, lease agreements and terminations, parking rights, multiple title and survey matters, and an economic development agreement.

“For more than 100 years, Griffin Communications has been committed to keeping Oklahomans safe, informed and entertained, and we believe that our headquarters should be in the heart of the city we serve,” said David Griffin, president and CEO of Griffin Media. “The new location will give our team even more opportunities to connect with the public on stories affecting our communities, and to bring the excitement and energy of downtown Oklahoma City into our viewers’ homes across western Oklahoma. We put our community and people first, and we are excited to be a part of the downtown community.”

Since the time of the purchase, the building has undergone major renovations, including improvements to security and tenant spaces, and has been renamed 100 West Main. Other tenants include The Oklahoman, Oklahoma Watch, Mahogany Prime Steakhouse, and the Main Street YMCA branch.
