What Companies Should Know About Discovery Issues in the Courtroom
In her presentation at McAfee & Taft’s 2018 Corporate Counsel Seminar in Tulsa, Oklahoma, trial lawyer Mary Quinn Cooper is joined by a panel of judges to discuss practical discovery issues that arise in the course of litigation, the obligations of lawyers to conduct themselves ethically and responsibly, and the numerous ethical rules implicated in discovery, including confidentiality, expediting litigation, candor toward the tribunal, meritorious claims and contentions, fairness to the opposing party and counsel, and supervision of subordinate lawyers and staff. The discussion includes a review of discovery process violations that open corporate entities and corporate counsel to possible court sanctions, ethical complaints, or both.
Featured guest panelists are Magistrate Judge Paul Cleary of the Northern District of Oklahoma and Lane Wilson, former federal magistrate of the Northern District of Oklahoma and current senior vice president and general counsel of The Williams Companies.
