In an article titled “Wiseman, others honored at Trial Advocates’ banquet,” Catherine Sweeney of The Journal Record covered the Oklahoma chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates’ annual banquet held on January 21, 2017, at the 21c Museum Hotel in Oklahoma City, OK.

McAfee & Taft trial attorney Bill Leach, who serves on the board of directors of ABOTA and who helped organize the event, had the pleasure of introducing Judge Jane Wiseman of the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals as the recipient of the organization’s “Judge of the Year” honor. The Journal Record article included coverage of Bill’s introductory remarks, which recounted his first trial with Judge Wiseman presiding. He said that even though the lawsuit settled before the jury had the chance deliberate, Judge Wiseman asked the jury members to stay and talk about the case.

“It was a remarkable combination of a Socratic method civics lesson and Jerry Seinfeld,” said Leach.
