Workers’ Compensation Law Update
Speaking at the 2013 Winter Quarterly Training Conference of the Oklahoma Public Human Resources Association (OPHRA), trial lawyer Mark Spencer reviews the landmark workers’ compensation reform legislation passed by the Oklahoma Legislature earlier this year. Most notably, the law replaces the state’s long-standing court-based system with an administrative one and offers employers three options for providing workers’ compensation coverage and benefits and for handling claims filed on our after February 1, 2014.
The OPHRA is a professional association devoted to training, developing and promoting public sector human resources management professionals within Oklahoma. The association’s mission is to serve the needs of HR professionals by providing the most essential and comprehensive resources available. Members are comprised of individuals from state, county, and municipal government, as well as employment law professionals. OPHRA is affiliated with the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR).
